No more war – implementation

The project is aimed at elementary and secondary school teachers and students. The goal of the project is to arouse interest and curiosity in the modern didactic approach to learning, which is represented in the joint Polish-German history textbook, “Europe. Our History.” The textbook is unique as it promotes an open vision of the past based on multi-perspectivity and openness towards neighboring countries. Teachers were provided with common methodologies and substantive content to prepare them for the cooperation between Polish and German schools (teachers and students). The common materials, including the textbook and its accompanying handbook, ensured that the Polish and German students would come together with a similar knowledge of history. Thanks to the handbook, the preparation for the student exchange can be easily integrated into future history lessons at school (compliance with the German and Polish core curriculum) and expanded during the exchange.

As part of the German Plenipotentiary for Media and Culture’s program, “Memory with Many Voices – Common Heritage – European Future: The Culture and History of Germans and Their Neighbors in Eastern Europe,” the International Delphic Council and the Center for Historical Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Berlin, jointly with five schools from Germany and Poland, implemented the educational and artistic workshop, “No More War!”. The project used identical content from the Polish German textbook, “Europe. Our History.”, from which teachers developed lessons at all participating schools. From the beginning of the school year, the project’s participants collaborated with colleagues from other schools and participated in online workshops with professional artists from four fields: painting, graphic design, photography, and theatre.

The final phase of the project, workshops for teachers and students participating in the project, took place from 19.06 – 23.06.2002 at the International Youth Meeting House in Krzyżowa (Krzyżowa 7, PL 58-112 Grodziszcze, tel. +48 74 85 00 200, https://www.krzyzowa.org.pl/de/. )

„Triste Torun “ – script for theater performance

In the school year 2021/2022 six German and Polish classes studied selected chapters from the textbook “Europe. Our history/Europe. Nasza historia” as a basis for immersing themselves in the history of the Second World War. They exchanged views on this topic online and jointly developed topics for a peaceful dialogue.
In June 2022 selected representatives of the classes met in the Polish Youth Meeting Center in Kreisau and created there, together with artists, numerous works of art: graphics, painting, theater, photography.

On Friday, 18.11.2022, the results of the project were presented by students and teachers at an event in Berlin’s Schönhausen Palace.
